Personally, I love to discover new ways of game controls that game developers think up. Some can get quite creative when it comes to touch screens and gyrometers! I’d like to introduce you to an app that is based on an unusual way of handling game controls. Come and meet Lizzy, whom you must help to save the world!

Price: $4.99, free lite version
Would I buy again: Probably
Learning Curve: Intermediate
Who is it for: Gamers, people fascinated by new ways to handle game controls (like me!)
Version tested: 1.2.2 on iPhone 3G, OS 3.1.3
Comparable Apps: none.
Available Languages: English
This App was tested by Kira

This is how it works:

  • When calling up the app, we are presented with a prologue.
  • Next, we can choose a character to play the game with – when playing for the first time, you can choose the main character, Lizzy.
  • I highly recommend having a look at the tutorial first in order to get an idea of how to control the game.
  • Then we’re presented with a level map of Lizzys blast-apart world. By moving the finger over the screen, we can see explore all the pieces. The ones with a lock naturally must be activated.
  • We choose the first level and off we go!
  • The control is actually quite simple: The character has a red and a green hand – the red one is controlled with your left thumb, the green one with the right thumb.
  • Make sure always to have one of the thumbs on the screen – otherwize the character will let go of the wall and irrevocably fall into the horrible debths…
  • You can slet the character swing around holding on to the wall with only one hand. This is where the game gets it’s name from.
  • Within the game youmust collect stars from the walls and follow the arrows to each level’s goal.
  • Of course you’ll be confronted with obstacles of all kinds on your way to saving the world.

Sway is highly addictive. The fun graphics and realistic feel of the 3D-effects especially add to the great gaming experience, once you get a hang of it!

What I like about sway:

  • I love the creative way of handling the controls!
  • Great 3D-graphics and animation.

What I don’t like so much:

  • The game is over too quickly – I’d love some more levels.
  • A bit of built in brain challenge would add even more spice to this game.
