Have you heard of this really fun iPad/iPhone game called Plants vs Zombies? Leo Laporte knows it for sure since he’s playing it all the time during his live TV Shows – at least he told us so ;-)

We met PopCap’s CEO David Roberts on his press tour through Europe. Judging by those Zombie- or PopCap-games in general, you’d never guess what kind of guy David is. He is a very calm and ‘un-freaky’ kind of person – in the best sense of the word. He told us how PopCap develops games: Do they start on the PC or on the iPhone? How much effort is it to adapt a game from the PC to the iPhone? And – last but not least: Why did PopCap change the game originally named “Plants vs Aliens” to “Plants vs Zombies”.

After developing the US operations for the VoIP Start-up Jajah and having helped selling the company to Telefonica, Frederik just moved 2 blocks on Castro Street, Mountain View. Together with Jajah’s founder Roman, he founded Talenthouse, a platform for creative people to participate in cool projects with artists and brands, collaborate, gain recognition and compensation. A father for 8 weeks, Frederik doesn’t look tired at all, and show us around in the Talenthouse. There we meet Malte, another German guy preferring sunny California to (at the moment) cold Germany.

Gabe Rivera’s Techmeme is the news reader of choice for people interested in tech. He has five editors curating what has been aggregated on Techmeme and its sister site for the media industry, MediaGazer. So the question of what is relevant news in either the tech or the media industry will be answered by a clever combination of algorithms and human curators. Feeling “continuously frustrated”, Gabe describes the ongoing effort to optimize the results for his readers. Being in the aggregation business for many years now he must admit that every additional gain in search results demands more and more effort to invest. Not to mention that there is no Techmeme iPhone app, yet…
